Cautiously Pursuing a Healthy Path Forward
Our ABC community is grateful that the Scholars have remained safe and healthy in the care of our dedicated Resident Director Sandra Hilario and staff, along with our wonderful host families. Although the protocols devised by our ABC Covid Task Force are strict and confining, the Scholars have fully complied with all guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone in our community.
There are signs of hope we are turning the corner!
ABC Scholars are beginning to resume participation in extracurricular activities and with great appreciation for the engagement they have missed so much this year.
🔹Junior Kijari is participating in her second season as a member of the AHS Girls’ Swim & Dive Team. Even in spite of 6 am practices, Kijari is thrilled to be joining teammates back in the pool. 🏊🏾♀️
🔹Sophomore Gabby has joined the AHS Track Team, enjoying the chance to sprint with classmates at daily after school practices and weekend meets. 🏃🏿♀️
🔹All the girls are enjoying a return to in-person rehearsals for AHS Show Choir. Although they have been working diligently to practice their dance moves during virtual rehearsals at the ABC House, the girls are eager to choreograph and perform alongside peers in socially distanced rehearsals at school. 💃🏾
🔹First year Aisosa is enjoying participation in the AHS Robotics Club and Drama Guild. Kijari and Gabby are connecting with AHS peers through the Global Engagement program.🌎
🔹Many girls are working on applications for various summer programs—academic enrichment, community service and part time employment.🙋🏾♀️
As we approach the one-year mark of virtual school, ABC Scholars are eagerly embracing exciting opportunities to reengage in-person and cautiously pursue a gradual path forward! 👏🏾
