Empowering. Achieving. Transforming.

Empowering. Achieving. Transforming.

A Better Chance of Andover opens doors for talented students of color. Through our 100% scholarship program, Scholars attend Andover High School, gaining access to exceptional academic, leadership, and extracurricular opportunities while living in a community-supported home on Main Street.

Bricks of Belonging

Every brick a name. Every name a story.

For nearly six decades, A Better Chance of Andover has been a home: a place where high-achieving students of color from across the country live, learn, and grow into the leaders our world needs. More than 150 Scholars, alongside the mentors, host families, board members, and friends who shaped them, have passed through the walls of our historic residence.

Now we're inviting you to leave your mark on it. Literally.

We're creating a community-built patio at the ABC house, made from engraved bricks purchased by supporters like you. Each brick carries a name, a memory, or a message, together forming a permanent tribute to the people who have made ABC possible.

The patio will debut at our 60th Anniversary Celebration in Fall 2027.

Scholar Celebration 2026.

On May 31, A Better Chance of Andover celebrated another successful year at our annual Scholar Celebration, an evening dedicated to recognizing the accomplishments, growth, and contributions of each of our Scholars.

A special tribute was paid to graduating senior Mané, who will attend Northeastern University this fall to study Nursing. Throughout her four years in the program, Mané distinguished herself as a scholar, role model, and leader within the ABC House community.

The evening featured heartfelt remarks from Mané's Academic Advisor, Sonal Shah; her host family, the Wright family; former Resident Director Sandra Hilario; and Mané's mother and sister. Each shared reflections on her character, resilience, and remarkable journey.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when Mané chose to turn the spotlight toward her fellow Scholars. Rather than focusing solely on her own accomplishments, she spoke about each member of the house, offering thoughtful words of encouragement and appreciation that highlighted their unique strengths and contributions. It was a powerful reflection of the leadership, generosity, and community spirit she has demonstrated throughout her time at ABC.

While we will miss Mané's presence in the house, we know she has a bright future ahead and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the years to come.

The celebration also recognized the achievements of all eight Scholars and the many volunteers, families, and supporters who help make the ABC experience possible. Together, they embody the spirit of a community committed to opening doors to educational opportunity and helping young people thrive.

One Scholar. Real Impact

Hear our most recent Senior Mané, who is matriculating to Northeastern, reflect on her journey and the role ABC of Andover has played in shaping her confidence, growth, and goals.
