Volunteers are the heart of our community
Every volunteer plays a vital role in shaping brighter futures for our Scholars
Although A Better Chance of Andover is affiliated with the national program, we are a self-sustaining organization managed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. Our success relies heavily on the involvement of community volunteers. Whether you can contribute a day or a few hours a week, and regardless of your skills there are many opportunities to make a difference. See some of our biggest needs below or fill out the form and we will match you with your area of interests.

Our Biggest Needs
Academic Advisors
Academic Advisors play a crucial role in shaping the futures of our Scholars. Their guidance helps Scholars navigate their academic journeys, set meaningful goals, and unlock their full potential. Advisors assist with class selection, extracurricular activities, and enrichment opportunities, providing essential support throughout high school. This impactful role requires a four-year commitment and fosters significant personal growth.
Host Families
A vital aspect of our Scholars' experience, host families provide essential support by providing a home away from home. Scholars join you for dinner once a week and one weekend a month. This meaningful commitment spans four years, fostering lasting relationships, and enriching the lives of both the Scholars and their host families. Learn more about becoming a host family.
Grant Application Writers
We are actively seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Grant Writers. This crucial role helps secure the financial resources necessary to support our Scholars and sustain our program. Whether you're an experienced grant writer or someone eager to learn this valuable skill, we welcome your contribution.
