Welcome to our Merrimack Fellow

This past year, we partnered with Merrimack College and their Community Engagement Fellowship Program to enlist the support of a graduate fellow across our program. After interviewing many potential candidates, we determined Samantha (Sam) Frey was an excellent fit for A Better Chance of Andover. And the feeling was mutual; ABC of Andover was also her first choice.

This fellowship program attracts graduate students who value real-world experience and are passionate about addressing pressing social issues and needs through community organizing and community partnerships. We have already seen Sam's passion and dedication and are fortunate to have her be our fellow through the end of next academic year. If you have noticed an uptick in our social media posts, this is just some of the work Sam has been doing. She has also organized and become the point person for our volunteers, helped to define the roles and responsibilities of each of our committees, assisted with grant writing, and is a key part of the communications for our spring fundraising event.

“A Better Chance of Andover has been a great experience. I’ve learned and expanded my skills in so many areas. I’ve been impressed by how it is a volunteer working board and the unique experiences every board member brings. I love how everyone collaborates and is so vested in the program’s success.”

When she’s not working for her fellowship or attending class, Sam is a Site Manager for Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps or can be found enjoying her new Corgi puppy named Maverick!
