Scholars Perform in Socially Distant, Theatrically Entertaining Plays
Theaters all over the world have been shuttered since March, but in the courtyard behind the Andover High School cafeteria last month, students performed eight very short plays for a socially distanced and masked audience of about 100 people. Two of the actors on the makeshift stage were ABC Scholars Aisosa and Kiarra, performing in student-directed works
Fall theater at AHS usually features a full-length musical, staged inside the Collins Center. With those close quarters off limits due to the pandemic, the school’s Drama Guild opted for an event that has previously been held in the spring. “A Series of 10-Minute Plays” was planned around weather and daylight, with the audience responsible for bringing their own masks and chairs.
The October performance allowed the student actors and directors to practice their theater skills, collaborate on this art form and safely take part in a popular AHS activity. The plays included “Doctoring Justice,” “The River Man,” “The Chocolate Affair,” “Perfectly Guilded Pineapples” and “Can You Hear Me.”
Congrats to Kiarra and Aisosa!
