Recruiting the Next Generation of Scholars
ABC of Andover is taking on a larger role in scholar recruitment, led by Board Member Sherene Davidson. The goal: sustain interest in our program and keep our house full of scholars for years to come.
“I’m new to the admissions committee this year, and part of my ramp up has been to look at how we, as a community school program, can step up to do our part in helping the national ABC organization with recruiting,” said Davidson. “We offer an attractive option for ABC applicants -- one that provides our scholars with a complete network of support and care.”
Middle school students considering ABC offerings around the country see Andover High School as a primary draw. In addition to its nationally recognized academic program, AHS offers many sports and clubs, including the Diversity Club started by ABC alumni. Meanwhile, our organization provides full scholarships for travel to and from Andover, professional college coaching services, chef-prepared dinners, and the guidance of a dedicated network of volunteers and staff.
“ABC of Andover alumni -- 100% of whom attended selective colleges -- are leaders in their communities today. They are lawyers, teachers, accountants, business leaders, social workers, politicians and more. By maintaining and growing interest in our program, ABC of Andover will continue to help fuel the potential of scholars for many years,” said Davidson.
The first step in this renewed recruitment effort is building relationships with middle schools and other organizations, and connecting directly with potential applicants.
