Message from Our President
Dear ABC Community,
As we awake each day to our new reality in a world that has slowed, Andover feels quieter and its ABC House sits idle without the presence of our Scholars. We are in uncharted waters.
It has been two weeks since the Scholars' lives were upended by our school closure. As for so many, the Covid-19 disruption presents extraordinary challenges for our students. The scholars have returned home to their families where they are working hard on remote studies from those distant cities. Due to time differences for the girls in LA and Chicago, some rise very early for Zoom classes. Our tech volunteers have worked to ensure all Scholars have wi-fi, and our ABC academic advisors are in close communication with the students to provide academic guidance.
Thanks to our generous donors, we have extended supports to help Scholars navigate this scary time, including providing gift cards to help with added food costs at home. Our residential staff is currently coordinating with each student to pack one box to be mailed home, including forgotten supplies and seasonal clothing for warmer days ahead.
A Better Chance of Andover is grateful to its wonderful community of supporters who have reached out with warm messages of support and concern for our Scholars. Thank you for thinking of the girls during this time of uncertainty. We miss the girls terribly but remain a tight community as we gather strength and inspiration from each other to forge onward.
May we emerge from this crisis stronger together.
