ABC of Andover Loan Reduction Scholarship

Reed and Louise Valleau, longtime supporters of A Better Chance of Andover, have established an innovative scholarship fund to be administered by the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF). While a completely separate entity, this fund is solely dedicated to ABC of Andover Scholars attending an undergraduate or master's degree program with a financial aid package that includes student loans. Thanks to this new scholarship opportunity, the amount of debt ABC of Andover Scholars will take on during their college years will be reduced significantly!

Fund Specifics and Application Process

The Andover ABC Loan Reduction Scholarship Program is a separate charitable organization created outside of the ABC of Andover program, funded by Reed and Louise Valleau and dedicated exclusively to ABC of Andover Scholars.

The scholarship fund is administered by Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF).

ECCF, in collaboration with Reed and Louise Valleau, are solely responsible for the distribution of all scholarships.

The Valleaus intend to contribute to the scholarship fund for 10 years.

The scholarship fund is open to any contributors.

Any ABC of Andover Scholar attending an undergraduate or masters degree program within 10 years of graduating Andover High School and with a financial aid package that includes student loans is eligible to apply for scholarship funds.

There is a limit of $10,000 per year, per student.

Applications should be submitted by May 1 and will be reviewed by the Loan Reduction Scholarship Program Committee.

The ABC of Andover Board of Directors will be apprised of all scholarships awarded at its annual September board meeting.

All interested ABC Alumni should contact the fund’s ABC Board Liaison Julie Ireland Childs.
