The Andover Baptist Church in partnership with Andover Community Services presents Juneteenth Celebration in the Park.

All are invited to share in this cultural event.

Come join to get the full Juneteenth experience through all forms of expression. Come HEAR the dynamic guest speakers, ENJOY the live music, the spoken word, LEARN about this holiday through artistic forms, fun and games and the many tabletops around the park.

Juneteenth has been celebrated all over the world for over 150 years. Organizations in a number of countries use this day to mark and recognize the end of slavery and to honor the culture and achievements of African Americans. The commemoration is an opportunity to heal a place that ha been filled with darkness, hidden away to the detriment of us all because it wasn’t a part of our collective conversation.

We can change this. Together we can learn why this holiday matters and why it is important that we normalize and celebrate it.

Juneteenth demanded that we deal with the gap between the promise of freedom and democracy and the reality of racism and discrimination but also shows that borne out of America really is the Beacon of Freedom & Democracy.
